Please visit the
OSCeR Centre
website for details
MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND SCANS
All eligible Musculoskeletal ultrasound scans
(includes joints, lumps and bumps, foreign
bodies under the skin, etc) performed at Carindale Radiology
are bulk-billed. |
 |
|
|
All Musculoskeletal ultrasound scans performed at
Capalaba, Morningside or Runaway Bay are ineligible
for any Medicare
rebate under the current
rules.
A reduced fee of $70 is charged,
which is not able to be claimed from Medicare.
However all patients are welcome to book into
Carindale Radiology.

|
PREGNANCY ULTRASOUND SCANS
Please note Medicare impose a limit on the
number of scans they will pay for during the
term of your pregnancy. If you exceed the
limits you will be required to pay any
additional accounts yourself.
Note that 99% of patients usually are well
within the limit, but please feel free to
ask our staff if you're not sure.

|
|
NON-ELIGIBLE REFERRERS
Examinations referred by a
non-eligible referrer under Medicare rules
are ineligible for a Medicare rebate or
bulk-billing.
|
|
|
RHCA AND VISITOR CARD HOLDERS
Patients with
Reciprocal Health Care Agreement (RHCA) Medicare cards
may be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
However we do not bulk-bill RHCA
examinations. Patients will be charged a
private fee which is payable at the time of
the examination. You will then be able to
take the account to a Medicare office and
apply for a rebate.
|
|
|
EXPIRED MEDICARE CARDS
Patients with expired Medicare cards may be
ineligible for any Medicare rebate. Check
with your local Medicare office if you're
unsure.
|
|
|
THIRD-PARTY MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS
Examinations for third-party requested
general medicals such as for visas, diving,
insurance, pre-employment etc do not qualify
for Medicare rebates.

WORKCOVER ACCOUNTS
Examinations requested under Workcover rules
are handled in two different ways:
- If you already have a Workcover Claim
number, we will send the account directly to
Workcover, but only if Workcover can confirm with our staff that the
service being
provided is covered under the claim. Otherwise the fee is payable at the
time of the
examination, and you will have to submit the account to Workcover
yourself to claim a
refund.
- If it is a new injury and you don't have a
claim number, then we are able to bulk-bill
the
service to Medicare.
|
|
|
If you do not
qualify for bulk-billing under these guidelines, you
will be charged a private fee which is payable at
the time of the examination.
EFTPOS and credit card
facilities are available.
We regret that we do not accept cheques.
